TOUR DESCRIPTION:
This spectacular tour to the most northerly of the British Isles gives an insight into some of Scotland's most ancient and impressive antiquities, vivid scenery and an intriguing mix of Scottish and Scandinavian influences. Our first day, we head to The Royal Hotel, Thurso, where we spend our fist night. Day 2 after a lunchtime departure from Scrabster, the MV Hamnavoem sails past Britains highest vertical cliffs and the Old Man of Hoy, to Stromness on Orkney. On arrival in Orkney we have a guided tour of Skara Brae, Stones of Steness, ring of Brodgar, plus Skaill House, Churchill Barriers, Italian Chapel and Scapa Flow. After dinner in a local restaurant, we settle into comfortable ensuite twin cabins for 1night onboard MV Hrossey or MC Hjaltland and set sail for Shetland. Day 3 on arrival in Lerwick, Shetland, we depart after breakfast onboard for a full day guided tour of Shetland. Visit the outstanding site of Jarlshof in the south, Scalloway Castle and Museum and of course Shetlands famous ponies. Last year customers felt they would have liked to stay 1 night on Shetland, so we have added this to this year's programme. After our guided tour, we arrive at the Shetland Hotel, where we have dinner, bed and breakfast included. You have the next day to relax in Lerwick, before we depart for the ferry at 7.30 p.m. for our overnight crossing to Aberdeen. We will spend our last day in Aberdeen, before returning home with wonderful memories of Orkney and Shetland.
On board the Northlink Ferries, all cabins have ensuite toilet and shower facilities and have requested outside cabins which benefit from a large window giving natural daylight.
