The North West of England has a long and illustrious association with feature film & TV production, and on this new
tour, we visit two famous locations, one from 65 years ago and one from more recent times. The 1946 film Brief
Encounter, starring Celia Johnston & Trevor Howard, was voted as the most romantic films of all time in the
Guardian/Observer film review in 2010. The classic love story was shot at Carnforth Station, which now has an
excellent visitor centre and the brief encounter refreshement room which has been lovingly recreated, just as it was in
the film. The in vogue film of the moment, The Kings Speech, was filmed at a number of locations in England, but the
mill scenes were filmed at Queen Street Mill near Burnly, which today is home to the worlds last surviving and operating
steam-powered weaving mill.

We will also include a visit to the ever popular Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village in Oswaldtwistle, Accrington,
Lancashire, England. This unique shopping complex is designed to appeal to all tastes and ages, with something to amaze, charm and intrigue every visitor. They have over 100 retail concessions selling everything from arts and craft supplies to gadgets to furniture to locally produced foods, and everything in between! We will also include an excursion to the
elegant Victorian seaside resort of Southport and the world famous Topiary Gardens situated at Levens Hall which has
featured on many TV programmes.

For this tour we stay in the 4 star Preston Marriot hotel, which was once a grand Victorian manor and is set in its own
11 acres of peaceful gardens and woodland. It has 149 bedrooms, a lift and leisure club which consists of an indoor
sswimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, solarium, gym, health club & spa. All Rooms have en-suite bathrooms, hostess tray, trouser
press, hairdryer, Luxurious bedding, hairdryer, TV & Wi Fi facility, Iron & Ironing board
