Eighteen miles north of Liverpool is Southport, 'England's
Classic Resort', where you will find glorious sandy beaches,
panoramic seafront and a Victorian pier. Described as
sophisticated, cosmopolitan and vibrant, Southport is the
perfect place to enjoy a traditional British seaside break, but
with all the modern amenities you would expect.

First port of call for many visitors is Southport's famous pier,
the oldest surviving iron pier in the UK and the longest
overland pier in the country. Adjacent is Marine Lake, the
largest man-made leisure lake in the U.K, and Marine Way
Bridge. The lake boasts various attractions such as the
Miniature Railway Village and Southport Belle Mississippi style
paddleboat. Nearby is the largest area of unspoilt Dunes and
Pinewoods in the UK where you will find one of the few
remaining red squirrel colonies. Southport's Lord Street is
famous for its shopping. The leafy boulevard with its
glass-canopied shops and stunning Wayfarers Arcade, make it
one of the Northwest's leading shopping destinations.

This is our third year staying at the wonderful 3 Star Royal
Clifton Hotel, situated on the Promenade and is the only hotel
offering panoramic views across the North West Coastline.
